The rules configuration of the Pricing module, allows you to instruct the system to restrict the recommendations according to certain strategies that the hotel wants to follow for its business.
Business rules have been a widely used tool by hoteliers to control pricing strategies when algorithms based on artificial intelligence were not available and the amount of information was difficult to manage.
As an RMS, Beonprice recommends its clients to avoid the use of rules and to give the algorithm freedom to recommend according to the hotel and destination forecast and the market demand forecast. However, there are some unexpected situations where the demand forecast cannot be adequately predicted, so rules must be used to protect some sales and pricing strategies.
This functionality has the following advantages:
Adjust price and restrictions recommendations. Under certain conditions, you can influence the price rates, establish rate closures or minimum stays.
Create rules based on production and forecast data. Rules can be activated when occupancy or ADR reaches a certain value or compared to other variables such as budget or last year.
Customize check-in dates for periods of time and/or days of the week. So you can be more precise if you only want to activate the rules during certain days of the week in certain time periods.
Turn off the rule automatically. When the hotel occupancy reaches a certain level or the check-in date approaches, the rule will be deactivated without having to be aware.
Clicking on add will open a pop-up window where you can create a new rule, assigning it:
Every rule will have one or more conditions and an action to be performed if the selected conditions are met (applying the logic “if the condition is met, then perform the action”)
Conditions
Activation Periods This tab allows for more precise and strategic configuration, adjusting the activation conditions to the specific needs of the hotel.
Example of a rule
For any day, when the Occupancy Forecast REC is greater than 90%, and Days before check-in is less than 2 days, then the recommended price for all master rates must be at least 150 units
Note: If there is a minimum price set in the inventory configuration, no rule will override it. For example, a rule statin that if my occupancy is below 20%, lower the price 10 units, would never put the price below the minimum configured in inventory.
