Cancellation Charges and Cancellation Policy in the Competitor Module

A cancellation policy defines the conditions under which a booking can be canceled and whether any fees apply. These policies help hotels manage revenue by balancing guest flexibility with financial security. Cancellation conditions can be categorized based on refundability and the time frame before check-in when cancellation is allowed.

The cancellation charge may vary dynamically, especially as the check-in date approaches.

  • Free cancellation: The booking can be canceled without any charges.
  • Special condition or partially refundable: The booking is cancelable but may incur fees or require cancellation more than 24 hours in advance.
  • Non refundable: The booking is non-refundable.

Conversely, the cancellation policy is generally consistent throughout the lifecycle of the booking and follows these classifications:

  • Flexible: Free cancellation up to 24 hours before check-in.
  • Semi-Flexible: Free cancellation but only if done more than 24 hours before check-in.
  • Strict: No free cancellation is allowed at any time.

These policies play a crucial role in pricing strategies, ensuring competitiveness while protecting against revenue loss due to last-minute cancellations.
