What is channel segmentation?

Hotels work with a wide variety of products in different channels. Segmentation is the process to divide those targets into clearly identifiable groups of customers based on reactions to market actions that will allow you to apply different strategies to both create value and maximize revenue and profitability.

Channel segmentation is customizable by hotel. You will have the chance to:

  1. Configure Channels: will allow you to group different agencies in one entity, this will help you to visualize and extract aggregate data.

Beonprice suggests you to create different channels:

  • Direct online: Customers who book the hotel directly through an online channel.
  • Direct offline: Customers who book the hotel directly by an offline channel.
  • OTAs: Online Travel Agencies. Third party websites which consolidate and sell hotel and travel products online (e.g. Expedia, Booking.com, HRS).
  • Tour Operator: Company that makes arrangements for travel and places to stay, often selling these together as package holidays.
  • GDS: Global Distribution Systems. These are electronic databases where hotel availability can be consulted and booked. They are primarily used by Travel Agents to book negotiated rates, however all public rates are also bookable.
  • Travel Agency: An agency that makes the necessary arrangements for travelers.
  1. Configure ** Agencies: **to map here your PMS Agency Codes.

Recommendations’ restrictions such as closing will be available by source taking into account the OTA’s commissions, source’s ADR and pick up among others.

Take into account, for the moment, agencies will have the same name as channels in Beonprice.
