What is market segmentation?

Hotels work with a wide variety of products in different channels and markets.

Segmentation is the process to divide those target markets into clearly identifiable groups of customers based on common interests and reactions to market actions that will allow you to apply different strategies to both create value and maximize revenue and profitability.

Market segmentation is customizable by hotel. You will have the chance to:

  1. Configure Macro segments: This will allow you to group different market segments in one entity, this will help you to visualize and extract aggregated data. Beonprice suggests two different macro segments:
  • Transient: Represent all individual rooms booked (business and leisure)
  • Groups: Normally bookings of approx. 10 or more rooms on any given night, with or without event rooms. Group size can vary slightly from hotel to hotel
  1. Configure Market segments to map your PMS Segment Codes with the segmentation created in Beonprice.

Remember: It is important to have all your PMS Codes mapped in Beonprice. It will help you with the analysis and you will have a better forecast and recommendations.

In both configurations you will have Rate mappings. It will allow you to connect inventory configuration with segmentation so Forecast and Recommendations will be more accurate.

Note: If you want to add more market segments and do not have the option, please contact your customer experience team (support@beonprice.com).
